About

Women in Liberation & Leadership’s expertise is in Gender Justice. WILL works to empower Gambian women and girls, address violence against them, and protect their sexual and reproductive health.

We do this in partnership with the government, professionals, civil society, NGOs and businesses.

18% of women aged 15-19 become pregnant

40% of women think domestic abuse is acceptable

60% of women are illiterate

71% of post-primary education enrolments are male

Maternal mortality rates are high at 433/ 100,000

9% of married women have access to contraceptives

“The Baobab tree is a representation of the strength and resilience of Gambian women. You may cut it down, but it will grow back, tall and strong. That’s why it’s in WILL’s logo.”
